LE1600 On The Way
18 April 2006
Hey gang, I’m pretty stoked as I’ll being getting a LE1600 by Motion Computing on Wednesday. This slate tablet has been out for awhile, but I’m still excited to play around with it! I hope they are including a keyboard with it.
I have a business trip next week, so if they include the keyboard I’ll be dragging it along with me. Heck, even if they don’t, I’ll probably lug around my Dell and the tablet. Then I can bust out the tablet on the plane in my luxurious coach seating.
I’m still amazed how many people have never seen a Tablet PC. Every time I have one and I bring it out in public, people are amazed and shocked. I think the market for the Tablet PC would be more affluent if Microsoft had a greater marketing campaign for it. I can’t believe I didn’t have a slate tablet while I was in college, that would have been perfect.
Well even though it’s been out for awhile, I’ll probably do a video review of it. I really want to start some type of Vidcast, but my only concern is bandwidth at the moment. I’ll have to figure something out. I did a little video review of the Toshiba M400, and that was really fun. Then I also did some other stuff with Windows Vista on it. I put the videos on YouTube, but it’s very limited in what you can do. So we’ll see where the whole Vidcast idea leads to.
Hopefully next week I’ll be able to show it off after I’ve had some time to play with it. Cheers!

I’ll be buying my first Tablet PC this month & agree that it’s being under-advertised. There’s just no reason not to buy a tablet PC. Uh, well I guess the one reason is price. It’s about a $500 delta between a tablet and a laptop similarly equipped. Anyway, it’s definately a Tablet for me. My choice is either the Tc4200 or the x41.

Thanks for the comment. I really agree, there’s no reason not to get one. I wouldn’t get the x41 since it doesn’t have a touchpad, but some people don’t mind. Hope you enjoy your first tablet! Congrats. =)

I’ve had one of these since October 2006 - & I am not at all impressed with its keyboard - the clips which attach the keyboard to the processor & protect the screen have broken on TWO keyboards. I’ve also found contact problems with All THREE keyboards which were supplied.
Another design flaw is the lack of an onboard CD/DVD R/W drive which is a real pain because it requires it’s own power supply. This therefore means if you want to install software, watch a DVD or even transcribe a CD-based interview, you can only do so if youre near a power supply.
It’s best feature is the View Anywhere screen which is worth the money but I’m not so sure about the rest of the kit & Ergo’s post sales support has left something to be desired.
As I get a lost of interest from people at all levels I’m more than happy to refer potential users on to Ergo’s competitors.

Hmm, I agree about the keyboard… It was a pain. I a convertible notebook would be better. =]
