I guess as your site becomes more and more popular, so does the rate at which you get comment spam. Lately I’ve been getting a lot. Just today I went to look, and I had 69 comments, 68 of which were spam.

I finally decided to take some action today and initiate the plugin Akismet. It actually comes with your WordPress installation and all that’s needed is to get an API key from Wordpress.com.

I also installed another plugin that counts the amount of spam it blocks. I made that a widget on the right. That should be interesting.
