Burn a Disc. Prepare this blank disk.
1 June 2007Lately I’ve been getting this error message everytime I try to used a CD / DVD in Windows Vista. It’s been a little frustrating, because I’d have to reboot in order for the media to be read.
Well after digging around, I think it’s due to autorun being disabled on the drive. So I enabled autorun again, and so far it seems to be working.
Here’s how to do it. Go to Start -> Run -> Regedit
Locate the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom
Change the ”Autorun” value from “0″ to “1″
If you’re having this problem, check and see if your autorun is disabled. If it is, then give that a shot. It’s it’s already enabled, it must be something else, possibly incompatible media perhaps.

That didn’t work for me.
What worked (no idea why) was to add a file (any file) to the c:\Users\\AppData\local\Microsoft\Windows\Burn\Temporary Burn Folder\
I have no idea why this worked. Found it on an Australian forum at http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/729655.html

What worked was to delete the “Temporary Burn Folder” located>c:\Users\$yourusername\AppData\local\Microsoft\Windows\Burn\Temporary Burn Folder\
now everything boots great!!! thanks for the tip in the right direction. It’s been drivin me nuts for months!!

ps
Change the ”Autorun” value from “0″ to “1″HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom
Works to turn autorun on thats it.
Don’t forget to reboot after you make the change in your REG.

hi guys
i got the same error and i know the reason too.
there is an update from microsoft which is included in vista SP 1 and is also available as a stand alone.try to see which update u recently installed.this update causes this error to bump up whenever we try to explore cd/dvd drive.
also this solution of putting any file in the temporary burn folder in c:\users\appdata\microsoft\windows\burn\temp…
works fine almost on any computer…i mean almost with very few exceptions.
try uninstalling the update which u recently insatalled one by one seeing which causes the error and then re-installing the ones which doesent.
this is due to an update,i know for sure..
ok
