If you’re receiving this error message, it’s most likely that you’re using a different version of VMware Converter, previosuly P2V.

To fix this, log into the machine you’re trying to p2v/convert (the target), and uninstall the agent on target machine through add/remove programs.
After, go back to the machine you have VMware Converter installed in, and restart the process. Converter will install a new agent and it should be good to go.

Note:

You have the following options to uninstall VMware Converter Agent:

* Automatically uninstall the files when the import succeeds
* I will manually uninstall the files later

If your import fails, then the agent might not get uninstalled. So this is why you might have an old agent on the target machine. Or that you selected
that you will uninstall the files later, and never did.
