Windows Vista Organize All Programs
12 October 2007Well I’m still trying to get used to the different locations of things in Windows Vista. Today I was trying to find where you can organize all the shortcuts to programs under start -> all programs .
After digging around for awhile I finally found it. I usually like to customize this a bit. Sometimes installers will dump all their programs in the root directory too, and I like having everything in it’s own folder.
So here it is:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\StarMenu\Programs

Googled my way to this post. Thanks. I also like to reorganize how all those shortcuts get dumped into various folders and cut out all the chaff that comes along with the shortcuts you need. Vista sure made doing this, amongst many other things, harder…

Thanks very much for this post. I just got Vista and I’m not terribly impressed. Your advice here was *very* helpful. Thanks again!
