For those who haven’t heard, Google has been releasing their IMAP service through Gmail. The IMAP protocol is an alternative to POP which will keep all your mail on the server.

IMAP is generally unheard of in the free email arena which makes this just another great feature that Google is offering their users.

Yahoo doesn’t even provide POP access unless you actually pay for their extra services, and not to mention that my Yahoo gets so much spam it’s incredible.

Kudos to Google for rolling this out to Gmail users, the hands down best web based email service.
