Vista Gadgets Posted November 9, 2007 – 2:01 am in: Technology
Although widgets have been around for some time, Microsoft has added the functionality to have what they call Gadgets in their latest operating system, Windows Vista.
In the past I’ve mentioned some of the gadgets I like on a case by case basis, but I thought I’d put a screen shot of what I’m currently running.
First I’m using a clock which looks like the clock from the television show 24. This is a pretty neat looking clock.
Next comes App Launcher, another favorite of mine. App Launcher has many options you can choose from such as the size of the fonts, how many icons are in a row, etc. You can also apply your own custom icons to your shortcuts. For example, I often have to manage my network connections, so I used a little RJ-45 graphic.
After that, I have a gadget that displays utilization of both my CPU cores, and my RAM as well. It’s nice to have this right in front of me so I can tell if something is bogging down my system.
Lastly, I have a couple weather gadgets to keep me informed. I have the city I currently live in, Austin. I also like to see what the temperature is around the area I grew up, so I keep Los Angeles up as well.
