G.Skill RAM
19 November 2007Well I had written previously how I purchased new RAM for my notebook, 4 gigs! So I wanted to post some pictures of the process like I’ve been meaning to do.
Here is the nice and colorful packaging the RAM came into. I mentioned this before but the main reason I purchased this particular SODIMM RAM was due to the head shield they provide on it.
Here is a picture of the RAM in the packaging. Note that I took off serial #s and such in many of these pictures.
The first RAM I had to replace was on the bottom of my D630 notebook. This was simply unscrewing a panel, popping the old module out, and putting the new one in.
As you can see it slid in nicely.
The next module I had to replace was under the keyboard. Somewhat of a pain, but no problem. I have opened many Dell notebooks in the past, so I didn’t even need to refer to instructions. The first part is popping off this cover.
Which looks like this afterwards
Then you remove four screws for the keyboard, and in this case, slide the keyboard up a little.
Here is the old module.
Here is the new module.
That’s about it, put everything back, and it works great!
Cheers.
