Well I decided to pickup a new piece of hardware for my home lab, a DL360. I’ve been managing a lot of HP servers at work lately, so this will give me more practice using some of HP’s management utilities.

I’ll probably throw ESX on this server, since it is only a two drive system, although the drives will be ultra320 SCSI drives, 15K RPM, so pretty beefy. It also sports dual 2.8 Xeon’s.

This model is a G3, where their latest models are G5’s, but I did some research and this will do everything I need. I’m already running two systems 24/7, so hopefully this won’t raise my energy bill too much. I’m starting to wonder about that.

I’d really like to get a Dell in my environment with DRAC and such, but I haven’t found any good deals yet. I got a great deal on this 360 which is cool.
