New House
19 January 2008
Well I don’t often write about my personal life in too much detail, but I thought I’d let the cat out of the bag and mention that I just purchased my first home.
I’m originally from California, which is a state I love and really miss. However, I realized that I would never get a house of my own in California so I transplanted to Austin, Texas where I can still get the benefits of a big city with affordable housing which is one of the best housing markets to be in right now.
I have been living in apartments for the past 7 years and decided it was time to finally make a change. I had opportunities to get into condos in the past, but I always wanted a detached home without sharing my walls with neighbors.
I haven’t fully decided what buying a home means, if I have achieved the American dream or that it just signifies that I’m getting older and it’s one of the things you do once you establish your career and move forward in life. Regardless of it’s meaning, I’m excited to have something to call my own and think buying my first home at the age of 27 is a pretty decent accomplishment. I’m also looking forward to have extra space and a garage to have a workshop! Finally my living room won’t also double as my office.
As much as I want to, I’m not going to post pictures to the world of my house, but would happy to share with my personal friends.
So I thought I’d share the big news. I have been moving all week, and I’m absolutely bushed and worn out. Looking forward to getting settled into my new home and writing many more posts on my blog. :)
Cheers.
